Another important element in the music business is copyrighting. Copyrighting is a form of protection provided by the laws of the United States to the authors of “original works of authorship,” including literary, dramatic, MUSICAL, artistic, and certain other intellectual works. This protection is available to both published and unpublished works. Technically the copyright protection is formed as soon as you put a pen to a pad and write a verse, as soon as you record a song, and as soon as you create a beat. The rights you have as the owner of the work include but are not limited to; the right to sell it, the right to reproduce it, and the right to perform it. I know earlier I mentioned that your work is "technically" protected as soon as its created, this is true but there are still legal steps you need to make to ensure no one steals it. www.copyright.gov has complete instructions on how to submit your music to be copyrighted. You can either submit mp3's online or you can burn your music to a CD and submit by mail. Yes, it does cost but it's EXTREMELY cheap and it's worth it. How often you copyright music is up to you. Below are more resources where you can learn about copyrighting. Remember these are just BASICS of copyrighting if you have any other legal questions regarding it you may want to get the advice of an Entertainment Lawyer.
First off much respect to NGC/Skigh High ENT which consists of @mdizzle and @youngslapz. These are two young cats who are working hard to perfect their craft. I chose to post this track "Can I Go" because they both talk about their dreams as far as music is concerned and where they want to take their musical careers. We ALL have dreams whether its in this business or some other area so I can definetely relate to this song. Check it out below and hit them on Twitter.
I got this record in my inbox from @Jaemusick and I found it to be very interesting. I think we all can relate to what he's saying in this song. Clck below and take a listen to "Conversation With God." Hit @Jaemusick on twitter with your thoughts.
